Thunder Pull Away Late
It was a tight game through eight innings, but the Thunder scored five times in the 9th to push the game out of reach for the Aces.
RHP Jack Palma rebounded nicely, tossing a solid five innings while allowing two runs. Freddy Haney picked up the win by tossing the 6th and 7th inning, as the newcomer gave up a run. And Franklin Van Gurp and Jared Terefenko each tossed a scoreless inning to finish the game.
Shawn Dougherty (single, double, 3 RBI), Byron Murray (two singles, 2 RBI), Franklin Garcia (two singles), and Tyler Ziemak (two singles) had multi-hit games. Jack Palma singled, Freddy Haney singled, Franklin Van Gurp (RBI) singled, Kelsey Launi singled, and Eddy Milian hit a two-run homerun.
Next up for Thunder is a game against the Braves (2-2).

Thunder Blow 9-2 lead, tie D'Backs
Time mercifully expired after seven innings, and the Thunder luckily pushed across a run in the top of the 7th to tie the game, as they begin the spring season 0-1-1.
The teams combined for an eye-whopping, and probably record setting, 25 walks.
Shawn Dougherty (4 RBI) clobbered a grand slam in the top of the first inning, punishing the D'Backs pitcher for walking the first three batters. Franklin Garcia (two walks, single) and Joe Ferro (single, double) knocked in three runs each, while veteran Matt Ziemak knocked in two via two singles, and Michael Jordan drove in one with an infield single.
Eddy Milan reached base in all four plate appearances, with three walks and single, and scored four times. Kelsey Launi reached in three of four plate appearances via two walks and a single, stole three bases, and scored three times.
The defense committed six errors, and have ten in two games. While the pitching staff is still trying to knock off rust from the break.
Next up for Thunder is a game against the undefeated Boynton Aces.

Thunder Come Up Short Against Los Marlins

Thunder lost to Los Marlins 5-3 on Sunday at Santaluces Community High School.
Los Marlins got on the board in the top of the second inning after AJ Quinones singled to center field, and Luis De La Cruz walked, each scoring one run. A double by Tyler Lavery extended the Los Marlins lead to 3-1 in the top of the third inning.
Ethan Wilder singled to center field, which helped Thunder tie the game at three in the bottom of the third.
Los Marlins took the lead in the top of the fourth. Quinones singled, scoring one run, to give Los Marlins the upper hand, 4-3.
Ben Petschke opened the game for Thunder. The starter surrendered two hits and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking three. Yordy Richard started on the mound for Los Marlins. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking two.
Guy Bitchatcho, Wilder, and Tyler Ziemak each collected one hit for Thunder. Wilder went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Thunder turned three double plays in the game.
Los Marlins piled up 9 hits in the game. Quinones, the number seven hitter for Los Marlins, led the way with three runs batted in. The center fielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Lavery, Carlos Espinosa, and Mario Alvarez each collected multiple hits for Los Marlins. De La Cruz led Los Marlins with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Elih Villenuava threw an immaculate inning in the sixth, striking out the side on nine pitches.
Next up for Thunder is a game at Palm Beach Diamondbacks on Sunday.
