The Thunder have been competing in the Palm Beach County area since the spring of 2000, and the 2021 spring season marks the club's 35th season. Prior to a rebranding in 2010, the club had previously been known as the Lookouts, Rockhounds, and Wave.
For their first 30 seasons, the team played in the National Adult Baseball League (NABA), run locally by sportscaster Lou Palmer. With a change in league management in the spring of 2019, the team joined the Palm Beach Baseball League, which is affiliated with the Men's Adult Baseball League (MABL).
Manager Mike Soulen has been at the helm for 35 seasons (17 years). His teams have missed the playoffs only seven times while winning four championships and runner-up status six times. Soulen has a 60.45 win %, and an overall record of 352-227-19.
